After 4 plane flights, a bus trip and a train ride, Savanna and I will actually arrive at the place where we will start our 500 mile hike. Our pilgrimage starts at St. Jean Pied de Porte, France at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains. Our means of transportaion for the next 35 to 40 days will be our feet.

After leaving St. Jean we will make our way over the pass in the mountains and cross into Spain. Here is a fun little map showing the route we will be taking.

I have placed a tab at the top of this blog that will take you to a Google Earth map of the route with pins at the different villages we will be passing through if anyone wants to follow along with our posts and find where we are actually at each day. A lot of the villages have Wi-Fi available at different places so we are planning to try to post a bit about our day along with pictures at the end of each day.
The official end point of our hike will be at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

If we still have a few days left we want to catch a bus down to Finisterra which means "End of the World". Some pilgrims walk the additional 50 miles but we will not have time so we are taking a bus. The European map makers of old thought this was the actual end of the world and used to write on their maps "Only monsters be beyond here" over the water area past Finisterra and as far as they knew there were.

After a night in Finisterra we will hop the bus back to Santiago to start our journey back home. Hope you come along for the journey!
